The NVIDIA Shield Delayed Till June

The all too awaited NVIDIA Shield seems to be taking a little bit longer than it was initially planned to take. It was planned to be released on 27^th June. The hardware company has announced that the NVIDIA has faced some issues in the last minute and will have to take longer than expected. Jason Paul, the project manager for NVIDIA, earlier on held a press conference and had this to say; "We are grateful for all the enthusiasm that has been expressed for SHIELD, our new portable device. And we are as eager for it to get into your hands. But we will not do that until it is fully up to the exacting standards that NVIDIA's known for. And some final quality assurance testing has just turned up a mechanical issue that we are not happy with. So, while we announced last week that SHIELD will go on sale this Thursday (27^th), we have taken the hard decision to delay shipping until next month."

The delay has not been received all too well with a number of critics going against the move. However, everyone wants the SHIELD to be at its best and everything NVIDIA promised it to be. Therefore, people are willing to wait. As compensation for the delay, NVIDIA has also changed the pricing for the SHIELD. Earlier on, it was planned to cost $349. However, after the delay, the SHIELD will go for $299 meaning a $50 discount.

According to NVIDIA, the issue has been brought up by a component of the game that was provided b y a 3^rd party. Sources state that NVIDIA is working hard to fix the problem. A number of suppliers have been contacted in a bid to sort out the problem the soonest possible. Brian Caulfield of NVIDIA also went ahead to explain that the problem was not experienced in the pre-production phase. It has only come about in the final phase of the manufacture of the SHIELD units.

Basically, the NVIDIA SHIELD is a mobile device created for the purpose of entertainment and more important, gaming. It is powered by the Tegra 4 processors which are also part of NVIDIA's many products. The SIELD comprises of a console controller fully equipped with a touchscreen. It uses Google's Jelly Bean OS which enables for Android apps as well as gaming features to go hand in hand with the SHIELD. The gadget also allows for streaming of PC games and goes ahead to support group gaming through routers.
