iOS is generally believed to be more established and secure than Google's Android offering.  The problem with Apple is their OS doesn't go well with other devices or platforms.  Additionally Apple has a certain way of doing things and you just have to adore iOS to get in total synch with its ways.  What does it matter, millions do love it anyway.  The app selection is also a bit above Android.

Windows 10 Mobile has come of age and it is their last ditch effort to make a mark on the smartphone market.  Though app support may still be lacking, nobody can beat its compatibility with Windows and Microsoft apps.

Screen size and resolution

This will take into account how big your phone need to or want to be.  Do you want see bigger or do you want something that can easily be accommodated in your pocket?

Resolution is measured in pixels; small screens may have higher resolution, thus looking sharper.  The higher the pixel, the better.

You could also check out if the screen uses AMOLED (used by Samsung) or IPS LCE (used by iPhone).  AMOLED gives brighter colors and IPS LCD produces sharper display.  There's not much advantage or disadvantage between the choices, it would come down to preferences.

Smartphone specifications

Again, for many specifications may be crucial, but for some, it may not mean much.  Important to consider is the internal storage capacity – how much files can it accommodate or does it have a provision for memory card for expanded capacity.  This will be important if you want make your phone your personal library of downloaded movies, photos, eBooks, among others.

Similar to a computer or a laptop, your phone RAM and process greatly affects the speed your device can process your orders. Though not the only indicators, they are the major gauges of how fast or slow your phone can respond.  Understandably, the higher the phone's specs, the faster it will be.  But if you're not into playing expensive games on a daily basis, then it would be more practical to settle for a reasonable mid-range choice.
